WRAAA Partners with Local Organizations to Provide Hot Meals to Those In Need
This summer WRAAA partnered with Edwins Restaurant and Leadership Institute, and Gordon Food Service on a new nutrition program to serve the community, called Circle of Food. This program prepares and delivers hot meals to thousands of people in Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, and Medina Counties. View Channel 19's coverage.
Launching off the success of the initial program with Edwins, WRAAA added a partnership with TownHall restaurant and increased the overall footprint of the program and the number of meals. The overall effort resulted in approximately 100,000 meals prepared and delivered to people in need.
Our most current initiative is with Dave's Markets. This winter we will provide 5,000 meals to people in need in or five-county area. Learn more.
In 2019 and 2018, WRAAA also planned two substantial turkey giveaway campaigns with numerous partners across its five counties. Similar to the Circle of Food, the effort required WRAAA coordination of volunteer time with community partners to assist with transportation and distribution.
According to June Taylor, Chief of People, Performance and Quality Initiatives at WRAAA, "We look for strategic partners who are like-minded and want to get out into the community to help their fellow citizens. And, with these projects, that is exactly what we found."
WRAAA thanks all of its partners that help willingly on these projects and seeks to add more projects like the Turkey Giveaways and the Circle of Food project to support families who need assistance with more food and better nutrition.
