Introduction

The Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging (WRAAA) is a private nonprofit corporation. We were organized and designated by the State of Ohio to be the planning, coordinating, and administrative agency for federal and state aging programs in Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain and Medina counties. Building upon four decades of experience in providing services and support to individuals in need, WRAAA continues to expand our service portfolio in the long-term and healthcare delivery systems. We will process your personal data in accordance with this Privacy Policy, your consent, or as otherwise required by applicable law.  This Privacy Policy applies in the United States.

PLEASE NOTE: Our Website is not intended for use by children under 18 years of age. We do not seek to collect or knowingly collect personal information of persons who are below the age of 18.  We do not want a person under the age of 18 ever to access this Website or provide any information about himself or herself to us, including his or her name, address, telephone number, email address or any screen name or username.  If we unintentionally collect the personal information of a person between the age of 13 and 16, we will not transfer or sell their data.

We encourage parents to talk with their children about using the Internet safely and the dangers of communicating with strangers and disclosing personal information online. If we learn we have unintentionally collected or received personal information from a child under 18 we will delete it upon learning of its existence. THE DATA WE COLLECT ABOUT YOU 

Personal data, or personal information, means any information about an individual from which that person can be identified. It does not include data where the identity has been removed (anonymous data).

This Privacy Notice for California Residents supplements the information contained in WRAAA’s Privacy Policy and applies solely to all visitors, users, and others who reside in the State of California ("consumers" or "you"). Access to Specific Information and Data Portability Rights

You have the right to request that we disclose certain information to you about our collection and use of your personal information over the past 12 months. Once we receive and confirm your verifiable consumer request (see Exercising Access, Data Portability, and Deletion Rights), generally, we will disclose to you:

Deletion Request Rights

You have the right to request that we delete any of your personal information that we collected from you and retained, subject to certain exceptions. Once we receive and confirm your verifiable consumer request (see Exercising Access, Data Portability, and Deletion Rights), we will delete (and direct our service providers to delete) your personal information from our records, unless an exception applies.

We may deny your deletion request if retaining the information is necessary for us or our service provider(s) to:

  • Enable solely internal uses that are reasonably aligned with consumer expectations based on your relationship with us;

Only you, or someone legally authorized to act on your behalf, may make a verifiable consumer request related to your personal information. You may also make a verifiable consumer request on behalf of your minor child.

You may only make a verifiable consumer request for access or data portability twice within a 12-month period. The verifiable consumer request must:

  • Provide sufficient information that allows us to reasonably verify you are the person about whom we collected personal information or an authorized representative;
  • Describe your request with sufficient detail that allows us to properly understand, evaluate, and respond to

Response Timing and Format

We endeavor to respond to a verifiable consumer request within forty-five (45) days of its receipt. If we require more time, we will inform you of the reason and extension period in writing.  Any disclosures we provide will only cover the 12-month period preceding the receipt of a verifiable consumer request. The response we provide will also explain the reasons we cannot comply with a request, if applicable. For data portability requests, we will select a format to provide your personal information that is readily useable and should allow you to transmit the information from one entity to another entity without hindrance. We do not charge a fee to process or respond to your verifiable consumer request unless it is excessive, repetitive, or manifestly unfounded. If we determine that the request warrants a fee, we will tell you why we made that decision and provide you with a cost estimate before completing your request.

Personal Information Sales Opt-Out Rights

If you are 16 years of age or older, you have the right to direct us to not sell your personal information at any time (the "right to opt-out"). We do not intentionally collect, sell or maintain the personal information of consumers we actually know are less than 18 years of age.

HOW DO WE ENSURE THE SECURITY OF YOUR DATA?

WRAAA has put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used, or accessed in an unauthorized way, altered or disclosed. In addition, we limit access to your personal data to those employees, agents, vendors and other third parties who have a need to know. 

In the event that the security of any personal consumer information stored by us is compromised, we will provide the affected consumers with notice of such breach in the most expedient time possible and without unreasonable delay. This notice shall be posted on our Website, and, depending upon the extent of the breach and the nature of the information compromised, we may also provide affected consumers with personalized notice in writing, by e-mail, or by telephone.
